Festival 2014 Opens April 22, 2014
The Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside will host its 28th annual Festival in 2014. Adjudications will be held April 22-26. The Concerto Playoff Concert will be April 25th and features the top performers in the Concerto competition. The adjudicators are from colleges, universities, and symphony orchestras throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The highlight of the Festival will be the four free Eastside Festival Artists Concerts on May 3rd at 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and May 4th at 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM. These concerts will feature the most outstanding performers in the Solo and Ensemble sections from all five Divisions, and each concert will also feature a special guest artist with ties to the festival.
The PAFE festival has been presented annually since 1987, and in 2014 will give awards to outstanding performers totaling about $3,000.
Any performer from preschool to age 90 or more, living in the Greater Seattle area, is eligible to participate. The Festival usually has about 400 registrations, which is close to our maximum capacity, so when a division has reached its maximum of paid registrations, that division may be closed for new registrations. Registration opens January 2nd only at http://pafenorthwest.org, and the last day to register is March 10, 2014.
Before new participants can register for the Festival, children under age 18 must first have a parent sign up for a Parent account, then the parent can easily create child accounts. Each child must have their own account linked to a parent account. New adult performers will need to sign up for an account. Each performer through college age must also have a teacher who has signed up for an account.
All events will be held at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, located just east of the main entrance to Bellevue College across 148th, are free of charge and are open to the public. Donations are accepted, and guests are encouraged to bring non-perishable food for the Food Bank.
The PAFE Festival is presented with the support of the Bellevue Arts Commission, 4 Culture, and the Eastside Music Festival Foundation. More information can be found on the PAFE website at http://pafenorthwest.org.
