Covid Policies

For 2022, we are pleased to be able to hold the PAFE Festival in-person once again. However, in order to be sure we can hold it and keep everyone involved safe, we have had to make some changes from years past. These changes are described below. However, the pandemic is an always changing situation, and we may need to make further changes to maintain safety. Please check back here periodically for updates.

If any other part of our website has different information than presented here, the information on this page takes precedence.

Guidance:

Our Covid Policies have been established after reviewing guidance from a number of sources:

Covid Vaccinations, Boosters, and Masks:

  • Everyone entering the building for the Festival (Students, Teachers, Accompanists, Parents, Adjudicators, Volunteers, etc.) must show proof of full vaccination at the door. There will be no exceptions. Vaccination requirements will follow the latest CDC guidelines. Specific requirements for the festival are as follows:
    • Anyone with a Johnson and Johnson or Janssen vaccination must have received it before April 2022.
    • Anyone with a Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination must have received the second dose before April 2022.
    • If you received any other vaccine (e.g., outside the US), please check with the registrar before the Festival to verify eligibility.
  • Everyone entering the building that is eligible for a Covid Vaccine Booster, per the latest CDC guidelines, must show proof of having received it. Specific requirements for the festival are as follows:
    • Anyone 12 years old or older that received a second dose of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination before November 2021 must have received a vaccination booster.
    • Anyone 18 years old or older that received a second dose of Moderna vaccination before November 2021 must have received a vaccination booster.
    • Anyone 18 years old or older that received a Johnson and Johnson or Janssen vaccination before February 2022 must have received a vaccination booster.
  • Masks must be worn correctly (nose and mouth fully covered) at all times while in the building. They will be available at the door if necessary. They may be removed by Voice and Woodwind students only as needed for their performance in their class.

Class Changes:

  • Because the PAFE board did not feel it was safe for ensembles to meet, we made the difficult decision to cancel all ensemble classes once again for this year.
  • Current CDC guidance only allows vaccination of children 5 years old and older. Unless that guidance were to change soon, children younger than 5 will be unable to attend this year.
  • In order to limit the number of people in a classroom at any given time, the maximum number of students in each class section will be limited to three.

Cleaning, Sanitation and Airflow:

  • Rooms and surfaces will be cleaned at least once per day.
  • Hand sanitizers will be available throughout the facility. Even so, we encourage you to bring your own.
  • Airflow within each room will be enhanced to provide maximum air exchange during classes.

Warm Up Rooms:

  • In order to limit the number of people in the building, we will not have any warm-up rooms this year.
  • Students are requested to warm up before arriving for the Festival.
  • All students and anyone with them are requested to check-in just before their classes and leave the building at the end of classes.

Certificates and Awards:

  • Certificates of Participation will be handed out during classes.
  • As usual, Class Placement information will be posted on our twitter feed and our website.
  • Placement (1st place, 2nd place, Honorable Mention) Certificates will not be available during the festival. Instead, notifications will be sent to students and teachers via email. If requested, Placement Certificates will be mailed to teachers, to be distributed to their students after the end of the Festival.
  • Special Awards and Concerto Playoff Concert Awards and checks will be mailed to students after the end of the Festival.

Concerts:

  • Concerts will have the same (vaccine, booster, mask, etc.) requirements as the Festival. This applies to all concert participants.
  • No food or drinks will be served as part of the Eastside Artist Concerts.
  • As usual, the Concerto Playoff Concert will have a reception afterwards with food and drinks available.
